Locking-out e.g. polyamide granules from gas flows following hot post-condensation treatment, takes place in rotary sector gas locks, in which sectors are individually flushed. Granules of high polymers are passed through gas locks, following temperature treatments. Each gas lock is of the rotary sectored type and incorporates a gas flushing system for emptied sectors. The first gas lock (4) separates solids from a primary- or protective gas flow. They reach the intermediate- or flushing vessel (11). The solids proceed through the secondary gas lock (12) into a secondary gas flow. Primary gas in counterflow to the solids, replaces the gas lock sector flushing gas many times over. An Independent claim is included for corresponding plant carrying out the process.
