The arrangement has an outflow opening connecting the escape route with the surroundings with a variable flow impedance, a first pressure sensor (3) in the escape route and a control unit connected to a flow impedance control device (2) via a control line (44) and to the pressure sensor via a signal line (42). The control unit outputs a control signal to the control device when the measured pressure difference reaches and/or exceeds a defined threshold value to reduce the pressure difference towards a demand value, preferably between 15 and 35 Pa, especially between 10 and 50 Pa. An Independent claim is also included for an application of the arrangement for escape routes.
