The printing unit includes several printing cylinders having respective drive motors and being adjustable w.r.t each other via guides. The guides (10,13) for setting the adjustment paths of sliders (6,9) for the outer printing cylinders (2,5) lie in different directions from the adjustment paths of the inner printing cylinders (7,8). The guides may be linear guide rails, at least in the case of the outer printing cylinders. The guides for the inner cylinders are arranged in parallel, spaced-apart planes.
