The machine has a casing (1) for a cutting roller (5), which is operated by an electromotor (2), and a base plate (6) with an opening (8) through which part of the cutting roller projects. The base plate is adjustable at right angles with respect to the casing. A longitudinal abutment (9) is arranged at the base plate, which has an abutment surface (10) for a work piece and runs at 45 deg to the plane of the base plate. The cutting roller axis is inclined to the abutment.
