Liquid material to be foamed is introduced into and expanded inside the closed mold cavity. Simultaneously, gases are vented from an opening (5) which can be shut off. The degree of cavity filling is determined. On exceeding a predetermined degree of filling, the vent is shut. An Independent claim is included for the mold used in the process, essentially as described.
