The stroke valve has a valve housing (1) with a valve slide (2) in a sealed movement path. The slide (2) is moved axially by a proportional magnet against a pressure spring (7). The geometry of the ring grooves (12,12') is structured to form oil flow streams, between the oil connections (P,A,B,T) so that the flow strength against the proportional magnet for the valve slide is over-compensated between the center position and the end position where there is no flow, and at least partially compensated between the center position and the end position where there is a full flow applied.
