The apparatus for cutting arbitrary shapes out of a flat material comprises a tool with a needle punch (12) which is movable along arbitrarily shaped contours above the flat material. Also claimed is a method for using the proposed apparatus. It involves positioning a plywood sheet or some other flat material onto a working surface cutting it by means of the needle punch along required contours.
