The cylinder (10) piston (14) is stabilized in neutral center position at zero cylinder pressure by means of a compression spring (17) supported both ends and thrusting off the cylinder (10). This coiled spring (17) is clamped by two thrust bearings (18,19), each in turn connected for entrainment to the piston or piston rod (15) to ensure that whichever bearing ahead of the piston movement thrusts against the cylinder, as against the bearing lying behind the piston which is so coupled to the piston or rod as to be entrained and so moved in the same direction as the bearing in front of the piston. Each bearing consists of a sleeve (20,21) concentric to the rod (15), each sleeve ringed by a thrust face (22) for the spring and additionally fitted with a rim step (26,27) which works with the cylinder strike face (29,31) and also serves as a coupling for entrainment by piston or rod.
