A process for removal of all the high-odor components from exhaust air by biodegradation using microorganisms is new, as is also the apparatus used. Removal of all the high-odor components from exhaust air by biodegradation using microorganisms is effected by passing the air through a moist, cellulose-containing rolling or flowing granulate bed or screen, especially of scrap paper. An Independent claim is also included for an apparatus comprising a rotating, drum-like vessel with a shell having a smooth internal surface and a centrally-located hole in the base for the contaminated air pipe and removal of the decontaminated air, there also being a stripper at the edge of the vessel.
