Stenter roller chain has a sealing ring at the inner ball bearing ring with metallic inserts keyed against rotation at the inner strap and aligned passages and channels for the lubricant flow

The roller chain, for a stenter, has a sealing ring (15) of plastics which is coaxial to the inner ring (11) of the ball bearing (10) and is keyed against rotation at the adjacent inner strap (5) of the roller chain. The spacer is equidistant metallic inserts integrated in the sealing ring (15), around the periphery of the bolt, which pass almost axially through the sealing ring (15) where the total cross section of all the inserts on the ring plane is small in relation to the ring surface area. The sealing ring (15) surface towards the ball bearing (10) has a lubricating groove (22), with a radial branch (19) to link the bolt lubricating channel (18) and the aligned lubricating hole (21) of the sleeve (6) with the interior (13) of the ball bearing. The hardness of the metallic inserts in the sealing ring is approximately the same as for the inner straps (5) and the inner ball bearing ring (11). The lubricant path from the radial branch (19) of the bolt lubricating channel (18) to the radial passage opening (21) of the sleeve (6) is through a passage hole (20) of a non-rotating sliding bush (8), fitted between the bolt (2) and the sleeve (6). The sealing ring (15) has ball inserts, in an equidistant distribution of three and pref. four inserts in each sealing ring (15). The sealing ring (15) has two diametrically opposed lubricating grooves (22), with a radial path in relation to the bolt axis (1). The lubricating groove (22) leading radially outwards has a deflection barrier in a ring zone (30) axially over the ring-shaped interior (13) of the ball bearing. The sealing ring (15) is keyed against the inner strap (5) by a cam.
