The spare wheel holder includes a swinging arm hinge-mounted on the vehicle by a swivel bearing(9) and hinge-mounted on the spare wheel swivel arm(5) by means of a similar swivel bearing in such a way that the swivel arm by one free end(13) stands away from its swivel bearing. The swinging arm and swivel arm in the neutral position are in parallel alignment and the free end of the swivel arm covers at least one section of the swinging arm and/or the swivel bearing on the vehicle's side. With transfer from the neutral position to the swivelled position a pivoting of the spare wheel arrangement takes place with a reduced swivel radius through the swivel bearings on the vehicle and swivel arm. An Independent claim is included for a cross country vehicle with a rear door, preferably with an upwards swinging tailgate which is equipped with the proposed spare wheel holder.
