A spring (21) acting on the boot lid (10) is a member of the lift gearing (20) transferring the motor movement (35, 36) to the lid (10) and is attached at one spring end (23) directly or indirectly to the motor (30) to form the motor spring end (23) which is adjusted through the electric control so that the spring tension (F1 to F5) is changed in the sense of opening or closing the lid whilst the lid is still stationary. The spring can be a tensile or gas compression spring. The motor changes the spring length and through the spring length the spring opening moment acting on the lid in the opening direction.
