The invention relates to a refrigerated air dryer for compressed air, comprising a compressed air supply line (2) for supplying warm, moist compressed air, a compressed air discharge line (4) for removing dry compressed air, an air-to-air heat exchanger (6) for cooling the supplied compressed air and for heating the removed compressed air in counter-current, a refrigeration unit (14) for cooling the precooled compressed air from the air-to-air heat exchanger (6), an air-to-refrigerant heat exchanger (12) for thermally coupling the refrigeration unit (14) with the compressed air to be cooled and a condensate separation device (8) for dehumidifying the compressed air which has been cooled by the refrigeration unit (14). In order to minimise energy consumption whilst maintaining a constant discharge temperature, the inventive refrigerated compressed-air dryer has a binary ice device (10) for producing liquid binary ice, which is thermally coupled with the compressed air to be cooled via the air-to-refrigerant heat exchanger (12).
