The branch junction is used in a hanging conveyor system with carriages with support rollers (171, 172) from which the goods are suspended and which move in grooves (40, 44, 46) in a guide rail. A first rail (38) has a first groove (40) pointing straight on (A) and a second, branching groove (50). A branch rail (52) below the first has a third guide groove (56) pointing in the direction of the branch (B). .This is arranged so that when a carriage is diverted to the branch the roller (172) which is not supported by the first rail (38) contacts the third groove before its other roller (171) moves into the branching groove (50).
