The digital radio receiver operating method has the receiver set up by setting 2 counters (31,32) to a defined values and effecting a search operation until a transmitter reception frequency is located, with entry of the transmitter programs and data services in a list and incrementation of one counter, the other counter incremented by switching the audio program within the list, the first counter reset to its initial value when the receiver is switched to a different transmitter. An Independent claim for a digital radio signal reception device is also included.
