The lock includes a latch(9) which has a guide track(14) open at the end to accommodate a yoke(2) installed on the hinged top of the vehicle. One track contour(14U) defines an impact point(15) for the yoke. At least one spring(16,18) is provided to pretension beyond a dead center position pivot points(10,11) on a link(12) connecting its ends to a lever arm(8b) and to the latch respectively. One spring(16) acts on the yoke latch or link and pretensions this around a second pivot point(7) on the vehicle's body side opposite to the closing movement. The other spring(18) acts on the link or lever(8) and pretensions this around a first pivot point(6) on the vehicle's body side in the direction of the closing movement.
