Breaking-up pressed bales of cellulosic plant matter, artificial fibers and similar bundled materials, is carried out by rotary cylinder with cyclically-projected tools
A cylindrical tool carrier carries radially-moved tools. Actuation is hydraulically-, mechanically-, electrically- or pneumatically-controlled. Preferred features: The cylinder is moved past the bales. Tools are controlled to project on the bale side, whilst being withdrawn back into the cylinder on the opposite side. Disk- and belt implementations of a similar nature are feasible. The cylinder is fed with bales by a sloping- or horizontal conveyor with feed roller. Speed of the cylinder and resistance of the material are factors in breaking it up during withdrawal from the bale. Separated materials are drawn from the tools by recesses of the feed roller. The gap size for the tools stresses the material. Tools and cylinder work together; one or more chamber strips further stress the material mechanically, breaking it up. The material is screened and foreign matter, e.g. stones and metal, are air-classified out. The material then passes over a metal separator belt. Further details of the following plant are elaborated.
