The device for lateral alignment of overlapping sheets of paper rotates about an axis at right angles to the surface on which the sheets are laid. A first section (15.2) of the outer contour of the device guides each sheet against a lateral stop. A second section (15.1) holds the sheet against the stop and a third section (15.3) fixes the aligned sheet in position.
