The dye padder (2) has at least two rollers, with a nip between them for the fabric piecegoods to pass through, with a preceding holding zone (21) for the dyestuff. The dyestuff holding zone (21) has a limit wall (20) which is formed by a housing section (17), pressed against the two rollers (14,15). The housing section (17) and the two rollers (14,15) have a swing movement in relation to each other. The housing section (17) has a shape (22) formed in it, extending into the roller gap in front of the nip (16). The dyestuff holding zone (21) is divided into two parts, separated from each other by a nip (27) formed between a roller (14) and the housing section (17). The dyestuff feed connection (26) opens into the second part of the holding zone, together with a pressure pump (28). The second part of the dyestuff holding zone is pressure tight, up to a given value. The rollers (14,15) are over each other in a vertical stack. The limit wall (20) is formed by a flexible film (24).
