The lock(3) of the bonnet allows a horizontal displacement(x) of the bonnet in its locked state, the lock being displaced along with the bonnet in the event of a collision with a pedestrian. The bonnet lock has a deflection space which defines a guide for horizontal displacement of the bonnet or mounting part connected to it. An energy accumulator pretensions the bonnet lock against horizontal displacement, and in the event of an impact is tensioned through absorption of part of the impact energy. An Independent claim is included for a bonnet lock which has a horizontal deflection space(33) in which a locking element(20) allows displacement of the bonnet.
