A block copolymer (I) has side chains comprising fluorinated groups. Independent claims are included for: (i) a process for the production of block copolymers (I) by esterification of a hydroxyl group containing block copolymer, comprising a block (A) of polymerized monoethylenically unsaturated monomer units and a block (B) of polymerized 2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate units, using fluorinated carboxylic acids or their derivatives; (ii) a molded article and coatings prepared using the block copolymer (I); and (iii) information storage devices and reusable printing plates having surfaces comprising the block copolymer (I).
