The bearing for the rotor of a water turbine has a ring unit of fixed segments (2), which cover the rotor shaft (1) and form a bearing gap between them and the shaft mantle surface. A bearing body (5) is radially outside each segment, for support at the turbine housing (6) with a cylinder segment to fit against the cylindrical surface of the turbine housing.. A wedge (4) is between the segment body and the bearing body, riding in grooves to set the bearing gap through the axial movement of the wedge.
