The pivot mounting has front and rear pivot levers (3) extending between pivot points (4) provided by the seat squab (1) of the automobile passenger seat and 2 spaced pivot points (5) attached to the floor pan automobile body. The pivot levers are each provided by at least 2 closely spaced separate layers, one of which is fixed at eather pivot point, while the other layer can slide by a limited amount relative to one of the pivot points, for deformation when excessive force is applied.
