The filter cassette has a rectangular frame (2) defining an opening (3) which is covered by a filter mesh (4) above which a filter mat (5) is secured via opposing pairs of clamp rails (6a), extending along the side edges of the frame and pivoted relative to the latter between a clamping position and a released position, for replacement of the filter mat. Two of the clamp rails extend along the full width of the frame side, the perpendicular clamp rails set inwards from the ends of the frame sides, for accommodating the first clamp rails, which are supported by pivot hinges (9) providing an instable relaesed position.
