The kit for making a display carton (32) comprises a blank which forms a tray with walls and base (4, 6, 8, 20) and a base sheet with scored or perforated sections (29). These sections are stuck to the tray base, the connection between them and the rest of the sheet being weaker than the connection between them and the tray base. Independent claims are included for: (a) the display carton; and (b) a method for producing retainer strips on the base of a display carton using the system described above.
