Recovery of hydrogen from hydrocarbons by steam reforming involves converting the hydrocarbons with steam to an H2-rich synthesis gas in the presence of a catalyst. This gas is separated into an H2 stream and a residual gas stream, which is then (partly) recycled to the conversion stage.
