An AC synchronous motor (1) comprises a stator having at least one magnetic field coil (2) for the formation of one or more electromagnets of stator units (2,3) and at least one rotor (7) rotating about an axis on which pole teeth that are excited, or able to be excited, in homopolar fashion are distributed. At least one turntable attached in rotatable fashion on a shaft (8) is designed as a rotor with individual iron pieces (6) located on its top side under one another but connected in magnetically non-conducting fashion. They are spaced apart, extend radially to the peripheral edge of the turntable and form the pole teeth.
