The arrangement has a light source (A) to illuminate one or more areas and one or more planar or linear detectors for defocused imaging of the interference pattern and particles in the bright points of the pattern. Each different interference pattern is generated from two or more bright points of one and the same scattered light arrangement, where multiple solutions of a scattered light arrangement are included. An Independent claim is included for a method to determine particle diameter, refractive index, asphericity, oscillation characteristics, rotation speed of aspherical particles or inner construction of particle, drop, bubble, etc. or inhomogeneity in flow.
