Use of microcapsules as a latent heat storage medium, e.g. in fireproof linings or insulating plaster, involves using capsules with a lipophilic core and a wall made by polymerisation of organosilicon monomers
A polymer derived from polymerisable organosilicon compounds (I) forms the capsule wall in microcapsules containing a core of lipophilic substance with latent heat storage properties (II) for use as a latent heat storage medium. Independent claims are also included for: (a) the production of microcapsules by mixing substance (II) with (I) and water, stirring or agitating the mixture to form an oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion, continuing stirring until the formation of microcapsules is essentially complete, then isolating and optionally drying the capsules; and (b) plaster containing these microcapsules for the final external or internal coating of walls or ceilings.
