Method in which after the bin (6) has been lifted by a lifting arm (5) and emptied it is immediately cleaned automatically using a washing lance (10) that sprays a jet of water around the bin. An Independent claim is made for a refuse collection vehicle that includes apparatus for the immediate cleaning of bins after they have been emptied.
