The tool has a reception device (13) for the U-shaped safety clip (1), the first arm of which is displaced transverse to the longitudinal axis of the bolt, for inserting it in the reception groove provided along the bolt, before movement of the second arm of the safety clip, for obtaining a required tension. The movement of the second arm of the safety clip is monitored by a control device with a spring-loaded wiper (15) acting against the arm and a cooperating sensor (18) detecting the pivot movement of the wiper.
