The elastic tubular catheter has a silver tip(1) with silver metal (5) in the form of a ring in a notch in the catheter's outer wall. The silver is applied to a metal core (2) consisting of memory metal. A silver part re-joins a broken catheter wall. A thin-walled silver plate is stuck or pressed onto the catheter wall. The silver part is connected to a direct current source (11) outside the body, with the other pole connected to a neutral electrode (12) on the patient's body.
