The ring holds the tire bead area in an annular chamber in the radially outer rim face. For removal of the ring from the chamber a radially aligned connector(57) is located between the axially outer and inner faces of the ring. The connector allows positive engagement with an extractor tool for drawing the ring axially out of the chamber and thus releasing the tire from the rim. An Independent claim is made for a vehicle wheel with a one part rim and tubeless tire whose bead wires insert into annular chambers in the axially outer rim face. Each annular chamber has closed radially inner and outer walls, a closed axial inner wall and an axially outer wall with a radially outer rim lip and a radially inner opening through which the bead is inserted.
