The piece goods conveyor has a transporting carriage(1) moving along a track and provided with a flat carrying surface(5) for the piece goods. An unloading means has a pusher(7) movable at right angles to the direction of movement(10) of the carriage and sweeps over the carrying surface. The pusher is elastically deformable at least on its lower edge sweeping over the carrying surface. The lower edge of the pusher may be constructed as a brush or as an elastic lip. An Independent claim is included for a use for the piece goods conveyor which is as a mail sorting system.
