Production of mildly washing-active cosmetic or dermatological formulations comprises determining the critical micelle formation concentration (CMC1) of washing-active surfactant(s) (A); selecting co-surfactant(s) (B); determining the concentrations and ratio of (A) and (B) giving a desired, lower value (CMC2) by varying their relative concentrations; and mixing the usual constituents of the formulation with (A) and (B) in these concentrations. Independent claims are also included for (a) a method in which (A) tends to bind to the surface of the skin and this is reduced by the above method; (b) the use of -surfactant(s) (B) for reducing binding of surfactants (A) to the surface of the skin; (c) the use of (B) in the production of mildly washing-active cosmetic or dermatological formulations containing surfactant(s) (A) with a tendency to bind to the surface of the skin, to prevent or reduce this binding.
