The invention relates to amphiphilc amines and the salts thereof, which may complex with biopolymers such as DNA, RNA, anti-sense oligonucleotides, ribozymes, proteins and peptides and transfer them into eucaryotic cells. Polyaminochinoline derivatives, which are modified with lipophilic groups are a particularly suited substance class. According to the invention, due to the property of forming aggregates with biologically active molecules such as, for example, DNA or RNA, said compounds are particularly suitable for use in gene therapy and, equally, for diagnostic purposes.
