The components of the automatic gear for a road vehicle comprise a start up component, drive and driven shafts, wheel sets whose selective paired engagement determines different transmission ratios and a planet gear which reverses the direction of rotation of the drive shaft, permitting the vehicle to drive backwards. The planet gear has a sun wheel, several planets, a hollow wheel, a brake and lamella-type coupling. The hollow wheel comprises a ring (1) with inner teeth and smooth outer wall. A lamella carrier (2) is welded segment-fashion to the ring. The lamella carrier is welded segment-fashion to the ring. The lamella carrier at the joint position (4) is provided with formations, at which it is welded to the ring.
