The steering device operates using an actuator in the form of an electrical asynchronous motor with a control loop. The desired current value is derived from the output signal of a steering torque transducer. The motor voltages and currents are measured and evaluated to produce values for the temperature or Ohmic cage conductivity of the rotor, which is used to influence the control loop or a signal parameter to improve the quality of control. The steering device operates using an actuator in the form of an electrical asynchronous motor (M) with a control loop (RK) for its multi-phase current. The desired value of the current (I) is derived from the output signal of a transducer for detecting the steering torque. The motor voltages and currents (U, Iist) are measured (E) and evaluated (BR) to produce values for the temperature or Ohmic cage conductivity of the rotor, which is used to influence (BF) the control loop or one of its signal parameter to improve the quality of control.
