The tool (1) has a laser beam generated eccentrically to the rotation axis of the tool, which is generated by a laser diode (2). The laser beam is passed through a glass fibre (4) to an exit lens (3) and is focused on to the point (6) to be cut approximately tangentially to the working edge of the tool, to increase the ductility of the layer to be cut.
