Portable IC engine driven working appliances e.g. for mounting on a setting device for fixture elements, includes an ante-chamber (21) in which is established a rich or a lean fuel-gas mixture which can be obtained by means of an adjustment device thus enabling a temperature- and pressure-dependent adjustment of the mixture. To provide an exact adjustment of the ante-chamber or pre-combustion chamber volume, the adjustment device (49) varies the spacing between the combustion chamber wall (14) and the partition plate (18).
