Production of a fiber-reinforced composite ceramic comprises impregnating fiber bundles with pyrolyzed binders and solidifying the binders; mixing the impregnated bundle with carbon fillers and phenol resins dissolved in solvents; filling the mixture into a mold; partially drying; pressing the mixture at elevated temperature to form a porous pressed part; carbonizing to form a preform; and infiltrating with liquid silicon forming a SiC matrix. Preferred Features: The fibers are carbon fibers. Drying is carried out at 20-100, preferably 65-75 deg C.
