The device for fitting an inner trim(2) to the door(1) of a motor vehicle comprises a threaded bolt(4) and clamping plate(5) forming a locking assembly which enables adjustment of the spacing between the trim and door in a direction perpendicular to the face of the door. The threaded bolt is connected to the door and protrudes from it into the interior of the vehicle. The clamping plate is fitted on the side of the trim facing the door. The clamping plate locates in a housing(6) on the side of the trim facing the door so that the plate is spaced away from the trim.
