A particle filter system comprises a particle filter (3) arranged in the exhaust gas channel, and a bypass channel (4) surrounding the particle filter which can be opened or closed. The bypass channel has a bursting sheet (5) which is destroyed by the high exhaust gas counter pressure. Preferred Features: The particle filter can not be regenerated. The bypass channel is integrated into the filter and the sheet is arranged on one end of the bypass channel. A device (7) monitors the loaded state of the filter. A pressure sensor (6) is arranged before the particle filter and measures the exhaust gas counter pressure.
