The device for separating the top sheet from a stack (1) of sheets and passing it to a suction conveyor has a series of suction separators (3) which can move at right angles to the surface of the sheet in guides (2). These are divided into left and right groups, each containing at least two separators, which can swivel parallel to the direction of the conveyor and also at right angles to it. The guides are connected by a joint ( 4) which allows swivelling at right angles to the direction of the conveyor to an adjusting rod (5) which is attached to a spring (6). The guides on the separators nearest to the center of the stack are attached to drive rods (15) mounted on first ball joints (17) and those further for it on second drive rods (16) attached to second ball joints (18). The first and second ball joints are linked by a connecting rod (19). Adjusters (7, 8) are mounted at either end of the spring to adjust the angle of the separators with respect to the direction of the conveyor.
