The device for fitting flexible printing plates in a sheet offset printing machine comprises a plate cylinder with at least one axially arranged channel (11) containing clamping and tension devices (12,13) for retention of the printing plate (2). The printing plate can be brought into contact with a pressure roller (3) for its applicationn onto the surface of the plate cylinder. The pressure roller has a camber and is activated by adjustable pressure forces (F1,F2). The peripheral speed of the pressure roller is less than that of the plate cylinder.
