Liquid waste disposal system apparatus comprises a number of liquid waste collection points for a pump to distribute the waste to points for washing and transfer to a central collection vessel. Apparatus to analyze a sample, and especially the components of a body fluid, has a number of liquid handling stations each with a collection point (12,25-28) for the fluid waste. The waste is extracted by at least one pump (31), together with different portions of air, to be transferred through a pipe system (30) to a collection vessel (32). To prevent the formation of foam, at least two collection points (25,27) are linked to the waste collection vessel (32) by separate pipe systems (43,44). The pipe system (44) for one collection point (27) has a higher average portion of air, and the other pipe system (43) has a lower average air content. The waste collection points are evacuated by a common pump (31) with a continuous operation, as a multi-channel pump feeding a number of pipe systems (38-41) leading to a common junction (42). At least one waste fluid collection point has a washing station (25-28), and at least two stations (25,26) can be linked to a common pipe system (43). At least one washing station (25-28) has a washing fluid vessel (35) with a suction extraction point (34) at its base and a second suction extraction point (36) at an overflow from the washing fluid vessel (35). The suction extraction points (34,36) are linked alternately to a fluid waste pipe system (38-41) by a change-over valve (37). The waste fluid pipes (43,44) are close together where they open into the waste collection vessel (32).
