Filter device has several parallel filtrate plates (10) with a non-filtrate plate (40) arranged between them. A filtration chamber (5) is arranged between the filtrate plate and the non-filtrate plate and filtrate channels (3a) and non-filtrate channels extend through the plates. A pre-coated channel extends parallel to the filtrate channel and the non-filtrate channel and is connected to the filtration chamber via a connecting channel. The plates are sealed and arranged next to each other. An independent claim is also included for a process for filtering liquids by deep filtration comprising slurrying a suspension in the filtration chamber to form a filter cake and filtering the non-filtrate through the cake. The suspension is fed into the chamber without being under pressure until it is completely filled and compressing the suspension to form the cake. Preferred Features: The connecting channel is arranged in a frame (41) of the non-filtrate plate and is angled not equal to 90[deg] from a slurry pipe.
