The energy-saving operating mode uses adjustment of the rest current for the for the amplifier stage of the mobile radio communications device in dependence on the control of the amplifier stage, e.g. via a linear HF end amplifier (1). A signal component (10) is extracted from the input signal (9) fed to the amplifier stage and used to provide a control signal (12) fed to the rest current control input (5) of the latter via a detector (3) and an operational amplifier (4).
