The unit has a pressurized medium container fitted to a flange, a pressure generator and a drive unit removably mounted on the flange with an output shaft and a coupling for transferring torque from the output shaft to the pressure generator input shaft with at least one auxiliary device that holds the coupling on the compact unit if the drive unit is removed and establishes play between the coupling and input shaft to prevent axial shocks. The unit has a fitting flange to which a reservoir container for a pressurized medium is fitted, an externally driven pressure generator (14) and a drive unit (18) removably mounted on the flange with an output shaft and a coupling (22) in a space in the flange for transferring torque from the output shaft to the input shaft (24) of the pressure generator. The coupling has at least one auxiliary device (42) that holds the coupling fixed onto the compact unit if the drive unit is removed and that establishes axial play between the coupling and the input shaft to prevent axial shocks on the input shaft of the pressure generator.
