Plastic composites containing, as component (a), finely-dispersed oxide(s) of titanium, zinc, tin, tungsten, molybdenum, nickel, bismuth, cerium, indium, hafnium and/or iron, and/or reaction products of oxides of Group IVb, Vb and Vib metals with hydroxides and/or carbonates of Group Ia and/or IIa metals. Independent claims are also included for: (i) a method for the production of composites by making a suspension of component (a) by wet-milling with component (b) in presence of dispersants and then polymerizing the mixture; (ii) a method for the production of composites by wet-milling (a) to form a suspension, drying the suspension and incorporating the dried and modified oxide or additive into the plastic matrix (made from granulated thermoplastic); and (iii) moulded products, especially film, obtained from these.
